Thomas Allen Metzger, a resident of Gresham, died on September 30, 2012 in Gresham. He was 87 years of age.

Tom was born on August 11, 1925 in Gresham and was the son of Frank and Josie (Hoagland) Metzger. He graduated from Gresham High School and in 1944 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He honorable served his country during WWII receiving an honorable discharge in 1946 at the rank of Signalman Third Class.

On October 29, 1949, he married Lois Crabtree in Portland, Oregon. He worked for Portland General Electric for 35 years retiring in 1988.

Tom enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He earned his pilot's license and also enjoyed flying. He was a Boy Scout leader and a family historian. He loved his family and made time to volunteer with the Gresham Historical Society. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tom is survived by his wife, Lois of Gresham, son, Gordon Metzger of Portland and daughter, Nancy Haase of Gresham along with 2 grandsons, Edward and Brian Haase and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 10 brothers and sisters.
