Mr. Allen was born on October 30, 1934 in Blossom, Texas a son of Fred and Elsie Hancock Allen. He was an employee for several years at Jones Automotive, owned Allen's Transmission Service from 1968 till 1982 and owned Allen's Auto Parts Store from 1982 till he retired in 1999. Edd was a member of East Paris Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He married Dorothy Lou Meeks on August 19, 1952 in Paris, Texas.
He is survived by his spouse of sixty-one years Dorothy Allen; sons Jerry Edd Allen and wife Ann and Terry Lynn Allen and wife Sherry; grandchildren Aaron Matthew Allen, Daniel Ryan Allen, Benjamin Lee Hall; two beloved Boston Terriers Angel and Carli; sister Adell Brown; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Ann Allen, parents, brother Fred H. Allen, and sisters Nell Allen and Clara Nemrich.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 29, 2013 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Felts and Rev. Jodie Van Deaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Knights of Honor Cemetery with Matthew Allen, Ronny Thrasher, Earl Posey, Gary Van Deaver, Tommy Van Deaver and Robert Prince serving as pallbearers. The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 27, 2013.
