He choose to enter the ministry of the
Methodist church. Like others in those
early pioneer days of Ontario, he was
a saddlebag preacher trudging through
swamps and forest of a country just
opening up to civilization, first in the
US, then in 1827 decided to join other
members of his family in Acton, Ontario
(formerly known as Adamsville) where he
obtained land on lot 27, con. 2, built a
house and raised a family.

He married Ruth Fellows (Apr. 7, 1800-
Dec. 4, 1864) native of Plymouth, NH,
d/o Jacob Fellows, on June 18, 1826 in
Upper Gilmanton, NH.
Children:
(1) Charles Frederick (Aug. 16, 1827-
June 22, 1916) who died in Albion, Calhoun
County, MI, buried in East Tawas, MI.
Married first to Anna Magwood and had
four children; and married second to
Elizabeth Emaline Church (no children).
(2) Mary (Nov. 7, 1828-Apr. 3, 1916)
married William Glass. She died in MI.
(3) Charlotte (May 17,1830-Mar.26,1867)
(4) Wilbur #1 (Aug.11,1831-Aug.17,1832)
(5) Esther (Dec. 28, 1832-May 13, 1852)
died in Acton (obit reported in Christian
Guardian)
(6) Wilbur Fiske (Mar. 14, 1834-Aug. 3,
1886) married Nancy Christie
(7) Joseph Fellows (Mar. 4, 1836-Jan. 7, 1928)
(8) Lucinda Ruth (Mar. 5, 1838-June 29, 1910)
married Thomas L. Wilkinson.
(9) Harriet Electa (Dec. 22, 1839-
Sept. 17, 1871) married Daniel Stewart
Kenney. She died in Nebraska.

(11)Abigail Lucretia (Nov. 1, 1844-
May 4, 1914) married Daniel Stewart

died in Oliver Springs, Arkansas
