Son of the late Robert Carl Alexander and Mary 'Emma' Emmeline (Minter) Alexander.

Charles C. "Chalk" Alexander, 80 years old of Marble Hill, died May 30 at the veterans hospital in Poplar Bluff. He had been a patient since May 10, when he suffered a broken hip due to a fall in the front yard at his home. He was born July 19, 1894 at Lodge, son of the late Robert C. and Emma (Minter) Alexander.
A veteran of World War I, he was the first soldier drafted from Bollinger County, and served in the Army in Germany. He was discharged April 28, 1919. He was also a Lieutenant in the MO National Guard at Lutesville. He was a member of VFW Post in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Alexander had operated a garage in Marble Hill for forty years. Prior to that he and his brother, C.U. Alexander, had the Chevrolet agency for this area for several years.
He married Miss Irene Welch, of Marble Hill, in 1946.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; one step-son, James Welch of Chaffee, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Pete (Ruth) Melton of Weslaco, Texas; and Mary McGlothlin of Marble Hill, Mo.; two brothers, H.W. Alexander of Marble Hill, Mo.; and John Alexander of Flat River, Mo.; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.
Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Services were Saturday at First Baptist Church in Marble Hill. Burial was in Bollinger County Memorial Cemetery near Lutesville.
