P. B. Linville, Member of Pioneer Edina Family, Died Monday In California

Philip Bruce Linville, 79 years old, of Sierre Madre, Calif., formerly of here, a brother of Mrs. John H. Fisher of Edina, and a son of the late C. R. Linville, who was identified during his lifetime with the business and social life of Edina, died Monday, July 24, 1961, at Inter-community Hospital in Covina, Calif. He had not been well for some time and had been residing in a rest home at Covina. He had a heart attack July 16, and was taken to the hospital where he expired.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by the Rose Hill Mortuary Park at Sierre Madre, where his wife was buried Oct. 23, 1959. The Covina Lodge No. 334 A. F. & A. M., and the Arcadia Post No. 247 of the American Legion conducted graveside services.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bertha L. Mcintyre of Covina, and Mrs. Mary Beth Simpson of El Monte, Calif., a son, Charles B. Linville of Covina, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Lorle Simpson of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Fisher.
Mr. Linville, the only son of Charles B. and Bertha Schnider Linville, was born March 27, 1882. He and Mrs. Linville were married Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1904, and they were the parents of the three surviving children. They moved from Edina to Colorado in 1929 and for the last nineteen years resided in California. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Nov. 21, 1954, in Pasadena, Calif.
Mr. Linville was a cashier in the Bank of Edina, which was founded in 1864, by his grandfather, P. B. Linville I, and he served as a Major in the United States Army during World War I.
He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by a sister, Marguerite, Mrs. P. E. Kaler, who died Jan. 8, 1960.
