Allietta Jane Messer was born in Vandalia, Illinois on April 13, 1926, the daughter of Allen and Dicie (Reed) Clark.

She married Emery Messer in 1942.

She is survived by three sons, Terry Messer of Bush, and Emery and Allen Messer, both of Du Quoin; four daughters, Georgia Williams of Hurst, Gale Keebler of Du Quoin, Vickie Hall of Cambria, and Grace Cahoon of Terre Haute, Indiana; two brothers, Charles Clark of Crab Orchard and Billie Clark of California; one sister, Roseabelle Smith of Belleville; 25 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Emery; one daughter; and two sons.

Mrs. Messer died at age 63 on Thursday, December 21, 1989, at her Du Quoin home.
