Robert Eugene Hackleman was born in Perry County, Illinois on September 15, 1929, the son of William and Alice McGroy Hackleman.

He is survived by his wife, the former Allietta Jane Clark; four step-daughters, Georgia Williams and Vickie Ann Messer, both of Hurst, Gail Keebler of Cambria and Fay Johnson of Murphysboro; two step-sons, Terry Messer of Flint, Michigan and Emery Messer of Du Quoin; four sisters, Shirley Brunton and Rosetta Anheuser, both of Du Quoin, Betty Walters of Bradley and Marion Blight of Washington, Illinois; three brothers, Billy, Jack and Larry, all of Du Quoin; 21 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one stepson.

Mr. Hackleman died at age 53 on Tuesday, March 8, 1983, at Firmin Desloge Hospital in St. Louis, from injuries received Friday morning when he fell from the rear of a pickup truck on the Cambria Road, just south of Hurst.
