Oscar was the son of Ole and Iverine (Mork) Nordskog. He married Ronnaug Subdal from Norway. They had six children: Claudine Goetzman, Vivian Fosland, Inga, Eugene, Dorothy Fosland and Clifford. Oscar farmed in Palmyra Township south of Bird Island. He was the butter maker in the town of Eddsville from 1905 until 1915. In 1949 Oscar and Ronnaug moved into Bird Island.
