Vernie Shelton, age 66, of the Camp Creek Community, passed away Tuesday morning, October 22, 2013 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a loving mother who will be greatly missed.Survivors include her husband, Clell Shelton, Jr.; four children: Pete Shelton, Jr., Malissa Wilson, David Shelton and Treasa Fillers and her husband Johnny; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers and their wives: Earnal and Linda Landers, Warren and Mildred Landers and Glen and Pauline Landers; two sisters: Martha Gentry and her husband, Carson and Janetta Manis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Elizabeth Landers; one brother, Rufus (Bud) Landers; and three sisters, Heneretta Yokley, Bert Mercer and Betty Gunter.The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Dolphus Cutshaw and the Rev. Jay Hugh Jennings will officiate. Interment will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Adam Shelton, David Shelton, George Landers, Andy Landers, Austin Wright, Steven Shull, Roy Fillers, Cody Wilson, and Jeremy Davis.
