Spouse of the Governor of Texas. They were married in Illinois, Jan 20, 1848. After movig to Texas, Ann settled downto be a wife and mother. She was well-educated and read extensively to keep abreast of the times. Ten children were born to this union and she reared them in a log cabin. Her readings also consisted of Dr. Throckmorton's medical books. He was away from home a lot to give medical care so this pioneer mother took care of her own emergencies. All the Governor's wives' inaugural gowns are held by Texas Women's University. The mannikins are very similar to these ladies. Mrs. Throckmorton is represented as petite, with red hair and a plum-colored dress, adorned by a black lace scarf about her shoulders
