Miss Lena Michels, pioneer Ellensburg resident, died yesterday at the Bernath Nursing Home at the age of 86 years. She had been a patient at the home the past two years.

Miss Michels, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Michels was born May 13, 1876 in St. James, Minn., and came with her parents to Ellensburg at the age of 12. She lived at 608 North Ruby St., for man years. Miss Michels was employed at the old Fogarty Dry Goods store for many years, later at the courthouse, and for 22 years was employed at the J. C. Penney Store. Her last working years were spent as cashier at Webster's Café. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and was a charter member of Altrusa club.

Survivors include her sister, Mrs. G. H. Beaver of Seattle and a number of nieces and nephews in Ellensburg including Mrs. Robert Jones, Mrs. Walter Webster, Mrs. Lorne Dunning and Mrs. Frank Graaff; Urban Uebelacker, Louis Meager, and Bernard Mitchell.

Rosary will be said Wednesday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Church and requiem mass there Thursday morning at 9:30. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
