Capt. Joseph S. Reed
Capt. Joseph S. Reed, a Mexican War veteran, died at his home at Oakmont on Tuesday, aged 89 years and one month.
Joseph S. Reed was born at Schellsburg on December 9, 1823. He enlisted in the service of the U. S. in the Mexican War. After leaving Schellsburg he lived for a time in Bedford where he conducted a cabinet shop. He also resided at Coalmont and in Allegheny before making his home at Oakmont.
Mr. Reed is survived by one brother, Peter A. Reed, of Tyrone and the following children: Mrs. Lizzie Morrison and Mrs. Ella Reed, R. B., Charles and Jacob of Oakmont and W. W. Reed of Los Angeles, Cal.
Mr. Reed was one of the first members of Bedford Masonic Lodge.
The funeral services will be held at the home in Oakmont today.
