He married Alice Wood in Glascock Co., GA on Dec. 10, 1899. In 1914, he became a deacon at the Baptist church in Grovetown. According to his WWI draft registration, in 1918 he was a self-employed farmer in Grovetown and also served as Justice of the Peace in Columbia Co., GA. He was superintendent of Grove Baptist Church in the 1920s.
