TUSCOLA — Dorothy Jean Fortney, 75, of Tuscola died 7:20 a.m. Monday (Sept. 13, 2004) in her home.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Tuscola First Christian Church with the Rev. Scott Zorn officiating. There will be no visitation. Private family graveside services will be in Arcola Cemetery. Hilligoss-Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Tuscola Public Library or Beth’s Place Women’s Shelter, Tuscola.

Mrs. Fortney was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Chesterville, the daughter of Charles and Ursula Hendrickson Campbell. She was a retired office clerk at Jarman Memorial Hospital, Tuscola, where she worked for more than 20 years. She was a very active member of Tuscola First Christian Church. Mrs. Fortney was a very giving person and enjoyed gardening, reading, antiquing, traveling, volunteering and spending time with her family and friends. She married Joseph H. Fortney on Oct. 28, 1950, in Chesterville.

Surviving are her husband; son, Michael Fortney and wife Shelley of Monticello; daughters, Marsha Hershey and husband Timothy of Taylorville; Tamara Fortney of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; brother, Charles Campbell of Chicago; sisters, Lenore O’Laughlin of Sullivan; Maxine David of Decatur; Ruth Holaday of Arcola; four grandchildren; one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three infant sisters.
