MRS. NINA L. CUSTER HUNTER, 66, and MR. CHARLES "JACK" EVERETT HUNTER, 67, of Kenova, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2005. Charles was born on July 17, 1937, in Huntington, W.Va., the son of Hazel Hunter of The Villages, Fla., and the late Earl Hunter. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Opal Hunter of Plain City, Ohio; and a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Paul Williams of The Villages, Fla. Charles was a retired employee of Ashland Oil and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Nina was born on July 10, 1938, in Debaca County, N.M., the daughter of Plumlee and Delma Custer. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Randle and Lynda Custer of Tuscola, Texas. In addition to their parents, brothers and sisters their son survives them, Dennis Smith of Millersburg, Ohio, and a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Hunter Esselstrom and Eric Esselstrom of Duluth, Minn; eight grandchildren and spouse, Joshua Smith of Massillon, Ohio, Allie and Jim King, Andrew, Alex, Anthony Mattevi and Kalee, Danny and Rachel Esselstrom of Duluth, Minn. Lovingly known as "Poppy" and "Grammy" not only by their children and grandchildren, but by so many others as well, they will forever be remembered as having a strong faith in Jesus. Our Poppy always had the ability to bring out the best in people. His light-hearted outlook on life, with all its trials and joys, touched all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by us all. Our Grammy was full of life. In spite of a lifetime of illness, she had the ability to rise above her own needs and serve the needs of others. Her sweet and caring ways touched so many. Her faith in the Lord Jesus caused her to offer words of encouragement and hope to others. She will be sadly missed by us all. We celebrate their lives and rejoice in knowing that they are "Home" with their God and we will see them again one day. Please join us at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel to celebrate their lives. Contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Huntington.
