"His great-grandfather, James Fresh, was the first bona fide settler in what is now Knox County. The Fresh home was a mile west of the present town of Newark. James Fresh settled there in 1833. Mr. Fisher's grandfather, John H. Fresh, was the first sheriff of Knox County. The Fisher family was also one of the pioneer families of this territory and resided at Newark.
Mr. Fisher moved to La Belle with his parents when he was 5 years of age and grew to manhood in that community. He was the first rural mail carrier out of La Belle, starting when he was 18 years of age.
He attended Westminster College in Fulton as a young man. In 1903, he moved to Edina and was engaged in grain and livestock buying for several years with his father. They conducted their business in Hurdland and Brashear as well as in Edina.
Mr. Fisher became a representative of the New York Life Insurance Co. in 1910 and was an active agent throughout this area for more than 30 years. He became a Senior Nylic in 1930 and continued to represent the company in a less active capacity for several more years.
He was united with the Presbyterian Church at La Belle as a boy and remained a member of that church the rest of his life.
Mr. Fisher was united in marriage Nov. 28, 1912, to Miss Mary Linville, a member of one of Edina's earliest families, at the home of Mrs. Fisher's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Linville. Also married in the double ceremony were Mrs. Fisher's sister, Marguerite Linville and P. E. Kaler. Officiating at the wedding was Rev. Gray.
Entombment was in the Linville Mausoleum in Edina."
