Sherman Richardson, 80, of Raven died Feb. 22 in a Bluefield, WV, hospital following a long illness.
Born in Vandyke, Buchanan, County, Virginia he was the son of the late Floyd and Ollie Short Richardson. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Local Union No. 7327 of Jewell Ridge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Newberry Richardson; one son, Laudy Richardson; six brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors: sons, Leonard Richardson of Indianapolis, IN. Eugene Richardson of Stilesville, IN., Larry Richardson of North Tazewell, Bobby Richardson of Raven; daughters, Mrs. Robert (Evangeline) Blake of Chesapeake, Mrs. James Earl (Frances) Dye of Cedar Bluff; brother, Earnest Richardson of Swords Creek; sisters, Margie Mullins of Richlands, Macie Kegley, of Mansfield, Ohio; twenty grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. at the Singleton Funeral Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Daniel Richardson and Rev. Monroe Greeley officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Garden at Claypool Hill.
Rev. Ancil Childress and Rev. Jimmy Richardson will be conducting an evening service.
