Mabel Clare DeVeny, a longtime seamstress for Jantzen Inc., died Thursday in a Portland hospital. She was 85. A private family funeral will be held Monday. Interment will be in Lincold Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. DeVeny was born April 16, 1900, in Hays, Kan. She had lived in Portland for many years and was a seamstress at Jantzen Inc. for 22.5 years. She retired in 1964. She was a member of the Americal Legion Auxiliary, Camelia Chapter of Eastern Star and a past officer of Orpha Renekah Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Floetta Mae Ide of Portland; a son, Dewane D. DeVeny of Beaverton; and a grandson.
The family suggest that remembrances be contributions to the charity of choice.
