Clara S. Costopoulos, 86, died on Sunday August 1, 2010 at Community Hospital in Torrington.

She was born to Jacob and Elizabeth (Deines) Schlager in Mitchell, Nebraska on December 2, 1923. The family then moved to Hawk Springs where she graduated from High School there in 1942. Clara moved to Torrington, Wyoming that same year and went to work for United Telephone Company of the West. She met and married William G. Costopoulos on February 25, 1955 in Cheyenne, Wyoming at the Greek Orthodox Church. In 1982, Clara retired from the phone company with 38 years of service.

She enjoyed tending to her flowers and her many rose bushes. She also enjoyed being a volunteer for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and loved taking care of her granddaughter. Clara was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Cheyenne.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, W.G. Costopoulos of Torrington, son Peter, also of Torrington, granddaughter Sara (Ryan) Harkins of Rawlins, WY, brothers, Robert, Harry, Lawrence, and William Schlager, and sisters, Rose Schwartz and Wilma Ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers Walter, Victor, Alex, Ruben, Albert, Elmer, and Theodore, and three sisters, Pauline Helzer, Freida Debus, and Hilda Heinrich.
