Ruth Ann Sprott,83 died at Hodgeman County Health Center in Jetmore on May 3,2001. She was born Oct.20,1917 in Prowers County,Colo the daughter of William Frank and Leona(Lindsey)Schlereth. When she was 2 months old the family to a farm in Hodgeman county and she grew up there. She graduated from st.Marys Academy in Dodge city,ks.

On Feb.21,1943,she married Leonard W. Sprott at Dodge City,Ks and they lived in Hodgeman county. She helped with the farming and ranching taking it over completely after her husband suffered an aneurysm in 1973. The home they lived in belonged to teh family for 100 years until it was destroyed by fire.

Her husband died Jan.14,1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Florence Marque and Dorothy Myers.

Mrs.Sprott moved to Garden City in 1989 to live with her daughter and assist in the rehabilitation of her grandson, Jamie in the paterning program. She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral,Dodge City,KS.

Survivors include two sons, Steve and Terrance Sprott;three daughters, Mary Louise Nau, Monica Alexander both of Dodge City,KS and Madonna Wendler of Garden City,Ks; two brothers, Curtis and F.A."Alfred" Schlereth of Dodge City.15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
