Dodge City,KS.--Monica A. Alexander,69, died Saturday,August 13,2016 at Western Plains Medical Complex,Dodge City,KS.
She was born June 28,1947 at Great Bend,Ks. the daughter of Leonard W. and Ruth (Schlereth)Sprott. She worked at Prestige Coffee Company for many years and was a homemaker.
There are so many lives she has touched in the years, countless people and animals she raised, looked after and loved. She was the Rock of her family and made sure that nobody ever went without. She enjoyed her friends and family so much and loved getting together with her VFW family. She spent many years camping with her family and always said they were some of the best years of her life. If she had to choose a favorite place on this earth, it would be the island of her family farm where she grew up. She did not know a stranger and would do anything for anybody. She was a spirited and fun Mom and Nana! She was truly a blessing. Her voice, her smile, her laugh will always stay in our hearts.
On May 26,1972 she married Mike Alexander at Cimarron,KS. He preceded her in death on July 14,2015.
Survivors include: 4 children, Tracy Alexander of Dodge City, Scott(Misti) Alexander of Hanston, Dr. Shelley Alexander and husband Chris Torline of Overland Park, Ks.and Mindy(George) Grieb of Lawrence,KS; 2 brothers, Steve(Jeane)Sprott of Dodge City,KS and Terrence Sprott of Houston,TX; 2 sisters, Mary(Vernon) Nau of Dodge City and Madonna Wendler of Garden City; 9 grandchildren, Mark(Kabrena) Alexander, Michael S. Alexander, Tyler, Mason, and Morgan Dick, George P. Grieb, Olivia and Jaxton Torline, Zaylee Maddison Alexander and 3 great grandachildren, Kaeley, Hanna and Oliver Alexander.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Vigil service was held on Friday,August 19,2016 at 7:00 p.m. and a memorial service was held on Saturday, August 20,2016 at 1:00 PM both at Ziegler Funeral Chapel with Fr. Aneesh Parappanattu officiating.
