Lillie Allen was born 3 February 1874 in Haywood County, NC, the last of nine children born to Jeremiah M. Allen (1828-1918) and Elizabeth Hyatt Allen (1829-1914). She was married to James Marshall Kelley (1869-1948). She died on 6 February 1967 in Waynesville, NC at the age of 93. She was interred in Green Hill Cemetery.
