A lifelong resident of Corning, he was the son of Henry M. and Stella Mary Arnold Brooks. A World War Two veteran, he was a member of the House of Prayer. He was married to Bertha Mae Valentine on March 30, 1927 in Hot Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha; one daughter, Mrs. Sandra Conyers, Corning; one brother, Bill Brooks, Corning; three sisters, Mrs. Merle Brown of Corning, Mrs. Jewell Slifka and Mrs. Lessie Batsch, both of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Bentley and Gayla Hovis and Heath Conyers.
