Loretta Herbst, age 89, of Foley, died Wednesday April 26, 2006 at the Foley Nursing Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 am Saturday, April 29, 2006 at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley. The Rev. Greg Paffel will officiate: Burial will be in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Duelm. Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm Friday at the Foley Funeral Home and from 10-11 am Saturday at the funeral home. Parish prayers will be 7 pm Friday at the Foley Funeral Home.

Loretta Herbst was born September 11, 1916 in Glendorado Twp., Benton Co., MN to Mathias and Johanna (Maybury) Jaeckels. She married Roy Herbst May 14, 1935 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm. She had lived all her life in the Foley area. She was an avid bingo and card player. The most important thing to Loretta was being surrounded by her family and friends. She was a great homemaker and enjoyed canning, cooking and baking. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Foley; Christian Mothers and a member of the Crosier Apostolate. Loretta was devoted to the Daily Rosary and would often lead the Rosary at the Heritage Place.

She is survived by her sons and daughters, Richard (Maurine), Foreston; Lenore (Mac) Udermann, Clear Lake; Betty, Janson, Sauk Rapids; Jim (Jane), Monticello; Jeanette Rahm, Foreston; Jan (Bill) Spiczka, Foley; LeRoy (Catherine), Foley; David (Kitty), Foley; Ron (Marie), Foley; Duane (Bette), Foley; 62 grandchildren, 125 great grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Leo Jaeckels, Sauk Rapids; Lou Latterell, Northome.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, June 18, 1983; son-in-laws, Albert Janson and Denis Rahm; brothers, Bernard, John, George, Henry, Albert, and Wilfred; sisters, Mary Wenner and Alma Vizenor, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
