Mr. and Mrs. Ben Griffith of Republic received a message on Friday, July 7, stating that their son, Pvt. Hubert Griffith was missing in action while serving with the armed forces in France since June 18. Private Griffith was in the mechanized cavalry as a truck driver and had been in service since December 18, 1942. He had never received a furlough and was sent overseas in May 1943. A brother, Pfc. Orville Griffith, is serving with the coast guard and at present is stationed at present in the United States. - Belleville Telescope.
