THOMASVILLE — Mr. Billy June Beck, 86, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Thomasville Medical Center. He was born in Davidson County on March 20, 1927, the son of June Beck and Etta Wood Beck. He served in the U. S. Army in World War II and retired in 1987 from Drexell Heritage. He was a member at Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher and choir director. Mr. Beck enjoyed and was known as Santa Claus of Kennedy Road, Thomasville, for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Grace Beck, Mozelle Hill, Brownie Leonard and Hester Phillips; five brothers, Von Beck, Grover Beck, George Beck, Glenn Beck, and Donald Beck; two great-grandsons, Matthew Everhart and Dustin Stilwell. He was first married to Margaret Auman Beck, who preceded him in death. He later married Betty Lail Beck, who survives of the home.
Surviving Mr. Beck are two daughters, Brenda Varner and husband Wade, and Phyllis Stilwell and husband Larry, all of Thomasville; one son, Sammy Beck and wife Debbie of Thomasville; one sister, Nellwood Parrish of Thomasville; six grandchildren, Trisha King, Kelly Tart, Chad Varner, Amanda Akins, Lindsey Johnston, and Craig Stilwell; eight great-grandchildren, Mark Raynor, Bryan Raynor, Tessla Tart, Haley Everhart, Loren Varner, Morgan Varner, Drake Stilwell and Tanner Stilwell; and one great-great grandson, Bryan Raynor Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Myers officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at J. C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.
