James M. Manion, one of the oldest, and most highly respected citizen of Wilberton Township and the county departed this life last Saturday the 10th instant, age 69 years, 3 months, 22 days. The deceased was a man of wide acquaintance and deserved popularity. He had served as Justice of Peace of this county for 20 years, had spent an up right life and expressed a willingniss to lay down the burden of this life and to go to possession of the reward beyond. The remains were laid at rest in Center Cemetery last Sunday and the burial was largely attended by relatives and friends. The funeral service will be preached on the 4th Sunday of March by Rev. Cruether of Center Baptist Church of which the deceased was a devoted member. The sympathy communit goes out to the surviving family in their bereavement. The last utterance that he wished to die in peace and that he was going home to heaven that the Lord would not punish him as he was going to perfect rest. He only regretted that he had not the strength to spend his last hours shouting and praying of the Glory of Heaven. James M. Manion was born 18 NOV 1824 in Allen County, KY. He was first married to Sarah Margaret Day 11 JUN 1846. She departed this life 13 FEB 1866. Seven children were born to this union. James married second on 28 MAY 1867 to Amanda V. Cook. To this union 7 children were born.
