Able Manion was born in North Carolina and was living near Scottsdale, Allen Co, Ky in 1815, where he married Rebecca Pitchford on 4 May 1818 and served as Justice of the Peace for eleven years before leaving for IL. They arrived in Fayette Co, IL, April of 1831 where they built a one room house. Able was described as being a stocky man with red hair. He died 20 May 1835, at the age of 40, of lung disease and was buried on his farm. The plot became known as Manion Cemetery and is now called Center Cemetery and is still in use today, where you wil find many of the family buried. Abel is the son of Ambrose Manion Sr. and Laura Halsell.
