Mr. Raymond W. Hackler, 81, 3325 U.S. Highway 70 East, Efland, died at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998 at Durham Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health.
A native of Grayson County, Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Maggie Crabtree Hackler. He was retired from the Orange County School System. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of the Efland United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Cecil of Efland; four sons, Mr. Douglas Hackler and Mr. Paige Hackler, both of Efland; Mr. Gary Hackler of Graham and Mr. Dennis Hackler of Mebane. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Laurie Delp of Virginia; one brother, Ralph Hackler of Greensboro; two step-daughters, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Elbert Kenley Hackler and Mrs. Rosa Wright Hackler.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998 at Efland United Methodist Church by the Revs. Jimmy Weaver and James Boyd. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
