Bobby Darel "Bob" Blackwelder, 81, of Anderson, died June 4, 2011, at Saint John's Medical Center in Anderson.
He was born April 17, 1930, in Weaverville, N.C., to Katherine Carter Blackwelder and Lindsey Blackwelder. He was a truck driver for Prairie Farms Dairy, retiring in 1992. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed baseball, NASCAR, reading and times with family and friends. He was also a member and past master of the Solar Masonic Lodge 734.
Survivors include his wife, Irene (Silvia) Blackwelder whom he married on Nov. 19, 1949; two daughters, Gail (Michael) Scholz of Lebanon, and Cindy (Jack) Nolen II of Alexandria, La.; five grandchildren, Melissa Koomler, Miles Koomler, Louissa Nolen, Sarah Nolen and Jack Nolen III; two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Tre Miller; a brother, Clay (Pearl) Blackwelder; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline and Helen; and two brothers, Paul and Howard.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at East Maplewood Cemetery Chapel with burial to follow. Military graveside rites will be conducted.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson.
