Clay Blackwelder, age 94, a resident of Golden Shores, Ariz. passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015. He was born September 11, 1921 in Concord, N.C.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, Clay traveled to Baltimore, Md. where he met and married the love of his life, Pearl Fritz. They settled in Kittanning, Pa. and became the parents of two daughters. In 1955, the family moved to Tucson, Ariz., where Clay worked for Sears as a refrigeration repairman until his retirement. In 1980, Clay and Pearl purchased property in Golden Shores and became permanent residents in 1983.
Clay was an active member of the Golden Shores Civic Association, the Friends of the Library, served on the Bingo Committee, and he was always available to help the Women's Club. Clay was also proud of his 70-year membership in the Elks and in the Disabled American Veterans.
Clay is survived by his wife of 72 years, Pearl; his daughter, Kathy (Steve) Fazio; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Ann Harrison; and granddaughter, Jeanne Ann Harrison.

She was born July 11, 1924 in Kittanning, PA. They married in 1943; moved to Tucson in 1955; then to Topock, AZ in 1984. Pearl and Clay were preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Harrison and granddaughter, Jeanne Harrison. They are survived by daughter, Kathy (Steve) Fazio; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Pearl is survived by a brother, William Fritz and sister, Anna Mae Berube. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015 11:00 a.m. at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave.
