Shirley L. Brown, 84, of Monmouth, IL passed away July 5, 2013, 1:45 am, at Roseville Rehab and Health Care Center, Roseville, IL. She was born June 28, 1929 in Denmark, IA, the daughter of Graydon and Marjorie Gross Siegrist. She married George Brown on August 27, 1950 at the parsonage of the Oak Street Baptist Church in Burlington, IA. He survives.
She is survived by her husband George of Monmouth, IL; three children Linda (Gary) Johnson of German Valley, IL, Carol Totten of Galesburg, IL, and Cindy (George) Mohr of Alexis, IL; 6 grandchildren- Todd Johnson, Morgan Johnson, Zachary (Kimmie) Totten, Erin Totten, Bryan Mohr, Brad Mohr; one great grandson Cameron Totten; one sister Laveta Pfeiff of Burlington, IA, one sister-in-law Beverly Siegriest of Gautier, MS, one brother-in-law Tom Barry of El Granada, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, and 2 brothers.
She worked at Form-Fit in Monmouth, IL; the Iowa Ordinance Plant in Middletown, IA and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Larchland Ladies Aid Society, and a member of Lake Warren. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Burlington, IA. She enjoyed Sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking and baking. She was a recipient of a cornea transplant.
Graveside service will be Monday July 8, 2013, 11:00 am at the Lenox Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 am at Corman's Roseville, IL.
