Loren McIntosh was born on 21 Dec 1911 in Brooklyn, Harrison, Missouri to Auris Harvey and Mary G. McIntosh. He was never given a middle name, but was given the nickname of Goody. He was one of nine siblings and the only one with red hair. He was the one in the family who grew up with lots of stories to tell about him. His early life started with the story of how he fell in a well as a toddler and his brother, F. J., rescued him. That was followed with all kinds of stories about the shenanigans he pulled while he was in school. He was always a fun loving and spirited individual. He married his sweetheart, Ruth Shores, in 1938. They had two children, a boy and a girl. Loren was a farmer all his life and he loved the outdoors. He always lived in Northwest Missouri until his kids grew up and then moved his wife to South Missouri where he spent his later years. He died on 6 Jun 1999 in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings.
