Following cremation, a memorial service will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at the William E. Little Funeral Home, 60 S. Main St., Manchester. Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Eckenrode was born in York County. He was the son of the late Clarence and Kathryn (Scantling) Eckenrode.
He had retired in March following 25 years of service in the shipping department of Voith Hydro Inc. of York where he was a member of the firm's Quarter Century Club.
He was also a social member of American Legion Shiloh Post 791.
Mr. Eckenrode is survived by eight daughters, Kathryn E. Smith, Lois Carey, Linda Bower and M. Darlene Bates, all of York, Brenda Smith of Manchester, Dona Greenplate and Debra Dorsey, both of York, and Valerie Cook of Mount Wolf; two stepsons, Lynn Joseph Martin of Twentynine Palms, Calif., and Leslie M. Martin of Joshua Tree, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Valeria Ann Smith of Dillsburg
and Lu Ellen J. Martin, at home; 18 grandchildren; a step grandson; three sisters, Sarah Eisenhoot of York, Geraldine Swords of Glen Rock, and Violet Snelbaker of Manchester; two brothers, Charles Eckenrode of York, and Arthur Thomas Eckenrode of Dover.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Barry Falkenstine, pastor of Christian Life Church of York.
