Violet E.R. (Eckenrode) Snelbaker, 78, was ushered to heaven by the Lord's angels on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, from her home with family by her side. She was the wife of Luther L. Snelbaker, Jr., with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage on November 15, 2012. Violet was born on July 5, 1934, in Dover Twp, the daughter of the late Katherine (Scantlin) and Clarence Eckenrode. Violet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her presence will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched. She was a member of the Ambassadors Bible Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and viewing question and answer T.V. shows. Violet was a member of the Mt. Wolf VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Luther L. Snelbaker, Jr., of Manchester; two daughters, Ruth A. Blair of York and Debra Monday of North Carolina; two sons, Robert L. Snelbaker of Manchester and David Lee Snelbaker and wife, Dawn of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a host of family, including, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by eight siblings. The viewings will be on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m.,at her church, the Ambassadors Bible Chapel, 3000 York Haven Road, Manchester. The service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday with Pastor David Slautterback officiating. Interment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
