Mattie D. Vinson married James Wesley Coffman December 18, 1902, Limestone Coounty Alabama.

Mattie was twenty years old when she and Jim married in 1902. She was a good Christian woman, attending Walnut Grove Methodist Church in Leggtown. Mattie joined the church when she was young and remained a faithful member until her death. Her church record is listed in the book, Walnut Grove Methodist Church History. Mattie was also a faithful member of the ladies cottage prayer meetings in her area.
