The service will be noon Monday at the Workinger-Semmel Funeral Home, 849 E. Market St., York. Burial will be in New Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Boeckel was born Jan. 3, 1926, in York County. He was the son of the late Curvin A. and Myrtle P. (Shearer) Boeckel.
He was a plumber for Kindig Plumbing and Heating for 10 years. Prior to that, he worked for Philip R. Altland for 30 years. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rooster Social Club, Prince Athletic Association, American Association of Retired Persons, Burnt Ridge Hunting Camp in Perry County and Plumbers Association of York County. He was a former member of York City Plumbing Board.
Mr. Boeckel also is survived by a son, Richard L. Boeckel Jr. of Spring Grove; two daughters, Susan J. Embrey and Yvonne M. Trimmer, both of York; a stepson, William Jordan Jr. of Dover; three stepdaughters, Linda Jordan of Phoenix, Glenda Willders of Lancaster and Eileen Wetzel of York; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Zimmerman of York. Mr. Boeckel was preceded in death by a son, Steven Eric Boeckel, who died in 1969.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Jeffrey D. Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
