Spring Grove, Richard L. Boeckel Jr., 67, passed away at home on January 1, 2014, with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Kathy M. (Shupp) Boeckel; together they shared over 28 years of marriage.
Richard was born in York on September 19, 1946, the son of the late Richard L. Boeckel Sr. and Meda G. (Noel) Boeckel.
He graduated from Dallastown High School class of 1964. While in high school he played varsity baseball and then played for the York Central and Susquehanna Men's Baseball Leagues for over 15 years. He worked as a plumber and was self-employed most of his life until he retired due to illness. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and cherished the time he spent with his family. He will be deeply missed by his four legged friends.
In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by his son, Jeff Boeckel and wife Kama of Spring Grove, Bryan Boeckel and wife, Missy of York; and his step-daughter, Brandy Tyson and Fiance', Tim Bailey of York. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sasha, Kara, Eric and Levi; his sisters, Yvonne Trimmer and husband, Marty of Dover and Susan Embry and husband, Danny of York; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Steven Boeckel.
Funeral services are being held privately by the family under the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC of Spring Grove.
