ELGIN NORTH DAKOTA DIAMOND JUBILEE 1910 TO 1985
Stephan Lynn Ackerman was born in Kossuth County, Iowa, December 18, 1906, to Frank and Katherine Tjaden Ackerman.
In 1907 he came with his parents to their homestead near the present town of Heil, North Dakota. He attended rural school near the family farm and graduated from Carson High School. He worked on the farm with his father until being inducted into the United States Army during Wolrd War II.
Stephen served with the Army from 1942 to 1945, whle being stationed in Alaska. After his discharge, he retuned to the family farm and worked with his parents until their passing. He retired from farming in 1975, continued to live on the land while renting the property.
Stephen was a good neighbor, helping anyone in need. He was interested nd active in community affairs until his death.
