Henry G Ackerman was born January 08, 1904, to Katherine Tjaden and Frank Ackerman in Kossuth County, Iowa. he came with his parents to their homestead near Heil, North Dakota, in 1907.
He received his education in the schools of Grant County, graduating from Carson High School. He then entered NDAC at Fargo and was a member of ROTC. Henry taught school in Grant County for nine years, was employed as the assessor for Elm Township and served two years as a deputy Auditor in Grant County.
On January 02, 1944, he married Marie Augusta Steinley, daughter of Julia and Gottfried Steinley from Carson, North Dakota.
The young couple settled on the Hertz farm north of Heil and later purchased the Albert Zeller farm and lived there until retiring into Carson in 1967.
Henry passed away from an apparent heart attack on October 15, 1973. Marie continued to live in Carson.
