John Collins Ward was the sixth child of twelve (11 lived past infancy) of Richard Trulock Ward and Elizabeth SABEY Ward both from England.The entire Richard Trulock Ward family is shown at the right.

John met and married Anna Ward for a brief period about 1901. They had no children. After their divorce about 1909 he met and married Edith V. GREENFIELD 23 May 1913 in Thurman, Fremont, Iowa.

Together, John and Edith Ward would have nine children: Esther M. WARD Lovin, Ada Viola WARD McAdams, Ruth L. Ward, Freda Trulock WARD Martin, Margaret L. WARD Englehart, John Richard Ward, June Marie WARD Larimer, Francis Marion Ward, Melvin B. Ward.
