Last sad respects were paid on Wednesday to the late Maureen Ahern Gifford, whose tragic death at the birth of her first child, a daughter, on Mother's Day, grieved her relatives and her many friends here.

Mrs. Gifford entered St. Mary's Hospital from Redding where her young husband, Arthur Gifford, is connected with the Standard Oil Co.

At 5 o'clock Sunday her infant daughter, Maureen, arrived, and 5 hours later the former San Rafael girl succumbed.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Ahern of San Rafael, and the sister of Mrs. Harold Haley, Mrs. Fred Kirby, and James B. Ahern, Jr.

Funeral services were held in the mortuary of Keaton & Dusel. A requiem mass was sung at 9 a.m. in St. Raphael's Church. Interment was in the family plot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
