Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Annie McLean

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon March 5 for Mrs. Annie C. McLean, well known resident of this community, who died at 6:15 o'clock, Monday evening March 2, at the home of her daughter, Mrs, Della V. Laign, at the age of 83 years and 4 days.
The last rites were held from the home to the Methodist Episcopal church at 2 o"clock with the pastor, Rev. W.H. Ake officiating. Burial was made in the Elizabeth cemetery.
Annie Caroline Isbell, the daughter of Elliott T. and Annie Isbell, was born on a farm in Guilford township, Jo Daviess County, Ill., February 27, 1852. She spent her early life in that section and on December 21, 1874 was united in marriage to George B. McLean, then a young superintendent in the silver mines of the west. The young couple moved to Virginia City, Nevada where they spent several years, but because of Mrs. Mclean's ill health, they returned east and made their home on a farm near that of her parent's.
In 1890 they moved to Elizabeth and this has since been her home. The last 8 years of her life were spent with her daughter, Mrs. Della V. Laign of this place when she passed away. Since November 1, 1933, she has been confined to her bed, and though a great sufferer, she was always patient and greeted her friends with a smile, and always appreciated the attention given her by friends or relatives.
Mrs. McLean was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Elizabeth and of a Martha chapter of the order of the Eastern Star here, for many years.Laign, and three sons, Elliott of Scales Mound, Ill., Leonard D. of Elizabeth, and Lester O., of Casper, Wyoming. Her husband , a Civil War veteran, died April 9, 1933. There are left to mourn her departure, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
