Came to Jo Daviess County Illinois in 1832. Was a member of Col. Dodge's squadron from the beginning of the Blackhawk War till it's close. Followed mining exclusively till 1835. Elliott married Dorcus Bounds Steely Nov. 11th, 1835. She was born in Kentucky in 1818. Dorcus died in 1849. Elliott married again in 1850 to Annie Avery (maiden name Cook). Elliott has been Supervisor, Town Treasurer, Trustee, School Director and Commissioner of Highways.
