Thomas was the first of 11 children born to Jeremiah and Ruth [ Huse (Brown)] Main. Ruth's maiden name was Huse but she had first been married to a John Brown on 20 Aug.,1683 and then widowed. She married Jeremiah on 11 Oct.,1699 in Stonington. Thomas' siblings were: Hannah b. 17 May,1702; Elizabeth b. 22 Feb.,1703; Lydia b. 19 Apr.,1704; Sarah b. 19 May,1706; Jeremiah b. 10 Apr.,1708; Hepsibe b. 24 Mar.,1710-11; Nathaniel b. 4 Aug.,1714; Anna b. 21 Aug.,1715; John b. 20 May,1716; Peter b. 5 Aug.,1718.

Thomas was married to Anna/Annah Brown on 20 Apr.,1720 in Stonington by Daniel Palmer, J.P.. They were the parents of 10 children: Thomas b. 12/13 Feb.,1721; Andrew b. 5 Aug.,1723; Timothy b. 8 Apr.,1727; Joshua b. 1 Apr.,1729; Anne b. 31Jul.,1731/33; Jonas b. 7 Feb.,1735/36; Elizabeth b. abt. 1738 and died as an infant; Elizabeth b. 19 Apr.,1740; Ezekiel b. 8 Jul.,1742, and Phebe b. 16 Nov.,1747.

After Anna died, Thomas was married to Elizabeth Hewett, b. 12 Apr.,1709 in Canterbury, Windham, Connecticut, the daughter of Thomas and Persis (Cleveland) Hewitt on 14 May,1766 in Stonington by Simeon Brown, Elder.

He was for many years a Deacon in the Church at North Stonington CT, the town of Stonington having been divided into two parishes in 1727.
