Mrs. Ayers was a Gate City, VA native and had lived in Jonesborough and Unicoi County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Henry Tump and Eltie Thacker Crabtree.
Mrs. Ayers retired from Texas Instruments in 1993, after 16 years of service.
Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Walter Ayers in 19993; one son, Scott Ayers in 1985; one infant daughter; one brother, Harvey Crabtree and one sister, Myrtle Crabtree.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Ayers and Tim Ayers, both of Erwin' two daughters, Connie Ayers Bennett of Erwin and Sharon Ayers of Jonesborough; one brother, Merlin Crabtree of Church Hill and one sister, Ethel Linsey of Kingsport. *Source- Johnson City Press, Jan. 14, 2001, Page 2
