He moved from OH to WI to KS and while still looking for a better life West, was killed on a wagon train in WY, probably headed for ID, by a band of renegade Sioux Indians. He shares a grave on the OR-CA Trail in WY with 3 others killed that day. His name is also on a family monument in Maple Grove Cemetery with his wife and 4 of their children.
