Mr. Reese Johnson, age 86, of McEwen, TN, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his home. Mr. Johnson was born May 1, 1927 in McEwen, TN, to Albert Lloyd and Mary Hust Johnson. He was a member of Mariah Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Waverly, TN since October, 1953, where he served as as Elder beginning December, 1953 for approximately 50 years. He enlisted at Nashville on the 29th day of September, 1945 to serve through National Emergency in the United States Marine Corps. Participation in the Occupation of China (at Tsingtao) from January 6, 1945 to September 2, 1946 during WWII. Honorable Discharge from Camp Lejune, North Carolina on November 10, 1946. Re-enlistment in the United States Air Force on August 2, 1949 at Nashville. Served in the United States and throughout Europe during the Korean Conflict until discharge on January 2, 1953. Mr. Johnson was employed by Tennessee Valley Authority, at the New Johnsonville Steam Plant as Assistant Unit Operator for 13 years. He owned and operated the "Ridge" and "Wolf Creek" section of the J. Hart Johnson Farm in Waverly, TN. He also owned and operated the Country Kitchen Restaurant. He was a lifetime farmer. He will always be remembered as a strong and loving father to his family and a man of faith and inspiration to those around him. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, May 21, 2013, from 2-9 p.m. at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. Visitation on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, will be at the Mariah Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Waverly, TN, from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at 2 p.m. Rev. Ray Mayo will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Hart Johnson Cemetery in Waverly, TN. Active pallbearers will be: Larry Johnson, Josh Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Adam Phair, Kyle Gehring, Cody Smith, Davy Smith, and Kevin Phair. Honorary pallbearers will be: Alan Phair, Nathaniel Mathews, Zachary Johnson, Eli Johnson, and Levi Phair.
