Lloyd Kenneth Johnson, retired Dickson County Extension agent, died April 9, 2007 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Mr. Johnson touched the lives of thousands of individuals and families during his 40 year career with Extension in Dickson County (1951-1991).
He spent over 37 years working with 4-H youth and the final three years in adult agriculture while also serving as County Extension Leader. He was a mentor and classic example of ‘the 4-H professional' who will be fondly remembered for his barbecued chicken, 4-H camp recreation, crops exhibits at county and state fairs, pruning fruit trees and other activities that taught valuable life skills. He loved UT athletics and sharing plants and vegetables from the most beautiful lawn and garden in the county!
Kenneth is survived by two daughters: Alice and her husband Tom Davis, and Nancy; and one granddaughter, Austin Davis; one brother and three sisters. Funeral April 12 at Taylor Funeral Home, Dickson. Burial in Dickson County Memorial Garden.

We lost one of our most respected members of Rotary. Lloyd Kenneth Johnson, age 81, was born April 11, 1925 in Humphrey's County and attended Waverly High School. He continued schooling at University of TN at Martin for two years and then two years at UT Knoxville completing his BS degree.
After completing high school, he volunteered for Military Service, entered the Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific Theatre. After Military Service, Kenneth began his life's work with the University of Tennessee Extension Service in Dickson County. Kenneth was married to Jo Daniel who served as Head Nursing Officer for many years at Goodlark Hospital.
Kenneth was a great father to his daughters, Nancy (our own member in Rotary) and Alice Johnson Davis. He was a good neighbor and friend to everyone in his neighborhood and county. Every year he made the best garden of anyone around and was known as the ‘man to see' if you were having problems with house plants, flowers and insects.
Kenneth probably made his best contribution in working with young 4-H students throughout the County and will be remembered in years to come. We have all come to love and respect Kenneth for all the years he served Rotary. There were times in recent past when he did not feel like coming to our meetings, but he was there because he loved Rotary and its members. A great model for us!
