Mrs. Mary Alva Filbeck, 60, Route 4, Fayetteville, died Monday, May 19, in a Fayetteville hospital. She was born March 1, 1920 at Kingston, the daughter of Robert C. and Myrtle Jane Clark Lane. She was a retired teacher and a member of Evangelistic Chapel, Fayetteville. She graduated from Kingston High School and attended the College of the Ozarks at Clarksville. She taught at the Hickory Creek School, Springdale, and at Wheeler, Arkansas.
She moved to California and returned to this area in 1946, later moving back to California and returning to the area in 1966.
Survivors included her husband, John Dennis Filbeck, of the home, whom she married March 4, 1943 at Yuma, Arizona; one son, Kim Ki Filbeck; two daughters, Mrs. Rhonda Lem of Fayetteville and Miss Ruth Filbeck of Denver, Colorado; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Lane of Fayetteville; two brothers, Newt Lane of Kansas City, Missouri and Fay Lane of Fayetteville; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Snow and Mrs. Jo Mhoon of Fayetteville and Mrs. Joyce Thompson of Bentonville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by their infant daughter, Betty Carroll Filbeck in 1945.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23 in Moore's Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. J. W. Depew officiating. Burial was in Kingston Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Funeral Home. Memorial donations were made to the Kidney or Diabetic Foundation.
